We just cut the soap into bars and now I'm packing them...the best part..wrapping them with parchment paper and fancy ribbons!!!

Well the days are flying by with our sweet daughter. hat making, thrift shopping, Walmart shopping, pizza eating at Costco and yesterday soap making! We gathered up all the ingredients and the main soap maker of this concoction got her protective gear on and yummy soap was made...lavender with lavender added from my flower garden..and rosemary soap with real rosemary also from the garden..it smells heavenly here! It wasn't cheap making it, but we figured when all the bars are cut the price per bar is $1.46..not too bad. We'll cut them into bars today then you have to cure them 4 to 6 weeks..I hope I can wait!! Speaking of beauty, Kimbers and I did a sugar scrub...the best scrub ever, our faces are super soft and kissable! All you need is a lemon and table sugar and cotton balls..dip the cotton ball in the fresh squeezed lemon and the sugar and all the wrinkles are...poof GONE!!!

Ready or not...orders still going out, got to finish those up. Got a couple of pkg.'s in the mail today, it must be Christmas time! Tomorrow cleaning up my sewing stuff, getting ready for our daughter and her kits! Can't wait to see her...she is the most fun person I know..

We finished up the grocery shopping for Christmas dinner with our kids...presents to wrap, not near as many this year, cut our list way down.....Potluck at church this Saturday with our Church family, love those folks....then a Christmas Eve service at Church........Remember The Reason for the Season.....Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year!!!

Going through a few past Christmas picture's and came across this sweet one..my MIL would buy items in three's for many Christmas's..that year she bought us girls matching robes in different colors, I remember we were so excited because she bought them at a favorite store which meant she most likely went over her budget that year..."Rare Earth" was a favorite store I believe amongst us...we felt rich to receive those chenille robes that Christmas! Sometimes she bought gifts in threes, like for Mothers Day, Easter.....always made me feel special!! We are missing her this season....

I love December with all the excitement of Christmas, birthdays and ETSY!! I had an all time high sales in Oct., Nov. and hopefully December....aprons are flying out of here as fast as I make them! YIPPEE.....I read on etsys forums that 10 billion or was a million, people shopped etsy's black Friday weekend, WOW that's allot, there's over 350 thousand vendors there with awesome talents and goods. I feel so privileged that folks love my wares and I get to take a small piece of the pie home.....I'm sewing 8 to 10 hour days, but strangely loving it! Busy hands happy hearts, That me...in the midst of redoing out kitchen I'm sewing away, taking the pressure off DH to get it done. Looks like this weekend he'll be putting the finale touches on our sweet new kitchen, pics soon. He jumped in there doing it all himself, worried that it wouldn't look good, but I love it and love him for working sooo hard on it! He had all the cabinet doors hanging to dry when the pole that was holding them crashed and messed them all up..back to sanding, repairing the broken ones and wringing of the hands, he stepped into the challenge and went forward. He's just that way, as I see him growing in his faith so does his confidence. I love that guy! And besides his sweet self he can fix stuff!!!

Now off to get the stuff back into our new kitchen!

I found these metal keys in town yesterday and had to have them..all of them...for 97 cents their really cool! In the midst of redoing our kitchen (I know) right before the holidays, I needed to decorate something. so I hung them from the chandelier, I had just enough to go around the whole thing...now about the mess and cooking on a camp table with an electric skillet!!!

Getting the last bit of veggies from the garden and putting it all to bed until next spring...I'll miss the daily surprises of gifts from the garden, all those yummy tomatoes. I've harvested enough cat nip for my kitties and my daughters kitties for last a while...happy kitties. I've also dug up a few of my basil plants, trying to keep them alive in the house for the winter, we'll see on that one!

Yesterday hubby and his son and brother went fishing...they stayed until they each got something, and wandered back with there sea legs. My brother-in-law is visiting from Singapore and will be going back home on Tuesday...it's been a great visit..we're all enjoying the time with him!

We just got back on Sunday from a 3 day trip to the coast..Winchester bay area. Overcast and sunny, that's what you get at the Oregon coast..Lots of good eats and some shopping and a seafood dinner out..we'll be going back next month with the same fun friends and to do some crabbing..can't wait!!!

We're taking a wine making class mid September on how to make 10 gallons of wine..don't know what else to make with all those grapes..we're really not wine drinkers but thought it would be fun to give family and friends home brewed vinegar (I mean wine!)......

My 52 Jimmy..I loved that truck!!! We bought this truck on a trip to Denver, had to have it..so hubby flatbed it home to Oregon..It certainly didn't look like this when we bought it! Lot's of restoration wishes and a few rip offs from so called shops..but all in all I was happy with it! Then I got in a car accident and injured my neck so this beauty got sold as I couldn't steer this heavy duty truck anymore..but I had fun with it when I had it..many days of fast driving on the freeways and on country roads, hubby was stunned that I didn't blow the engine....!! Good Memories..The licence plate said "Anns52" the year I was born, the year the truck was born and part of my name..fun times. I saw this truck about 2 weeks ago driving right by me while I was at a stop light..haven't seen it since I sold it over 5 years ago..I though it had left town!! Like I said great times!!!!

I had this little wooden clothes dryer on my list of wants, and by golly I found it at the thrift shop last week! Sometimes that's how it roils, I think it and then it finds me! My sister gave me a generous size bag of hankies last summer and I've been whitening them up a bit and every apron that I sell gets a vintage hankie, just a little extra to say "Thank You" I washed a batch of them yesterday and hung them outside in the sun to dry and pressed them and they are waiting for new homes...

What we did is carrying the whole table and chairs out through the french doors and set it up outside, easy stuff, that way we don't have to put a bunch of smaller outdoor tables together and find enough chairs, I've started to do this a few summers ago, works out good for all our seating needs, besides it's fun!!

Hamburgers just taste better outside!!!

We got the yard in pretty good shape thanks to the cooler weather....so we decided at the last moment to have a few friends over for a BBQ. It's been a while and I forget how much fun gathering with friends are. Nice people, caring people...Many laughs.. the last one stayed until 2:30 a.m., me, I ducked out at midnight and hubby had the privilege....

Lot's of vintage items from her mom's sewing stuff!!

My friends mom passed away a few months ago so as she was cleaning up her mother's estate she gathered up some sewing items to give to me....I got a whole box of the loveliest aprons, buttons,rick rack, old lace and some handkerchief's and many more precious things...I knew that I wanted to make my friend a tote bag with some of her mom's items, like a strawberry tablecloth for the main part with a doily for a pocket and an apron pocket for another pocket, many memories for my friend in this tote bag. I made the straps of this bag with the aprons ties of her moms apron, I hope when she sees each piece that I incorporate into this project that she'll see her mom..I'll add some buttons to it, maybe some buttons left over from the dresses that she made for her and her sisters..I know her mom was an avid seamstress so she had many pretties...I hope every time she caries this bag on her shoulder's she remembers her moms love to her...that's my prayer..

Had a great Mother's Day here at the Hill house! Flowers from the oldest son from Idaho with a very sweet phone call, middle son came over with a wonderful liner for baking cookies, and that's exactly what he did for us...baked cookies, a card and fresh baked bread, yummy, daughter had to work but got a nice pkg. from her as well. She sent a awesome outdoor picnic blanket that she bought from her friend, I already have it in my car..she also went to a German store in Portland and picked up a German card with some yummy chocolates and some great tasting syrup for adding some yummiest flavor to water or any other drink..It was a great relaxing day with hubby too. He's so sweet to buy flowers and other goodies, he's special like that....We went to a garden show and picked up some veggie plants for our garden and then out for Chinese food..I wanted to have a low key day with out expectations..you know what they say about expectations are really disappointments when things don't go your way..so it's best to let your family off the hook...it has taken me many years to get to this point, but I'm still learning...

We had some new carpet laid on Friday, this has been in the works for awhile, just doing it is another matter..We're still putting stuff away, not trying the crowd out the new room with stuff, I kinda do that! Bought some new sofa and chair covers for the old furniture, looks good. I really didn't feel the need to buy new when our other set was like new but itchy..I bought this set a few years ago and I loved the wool fabric it was covered in but it was just too hot and itchy when you sat on them, so the new covers do the job...Curtains and pillows by IKEA, love that store..Needing new blinds and a few decorations and we're done!

So Many Sweet Chicks!!!!

Morning!

I thought I better post our baby chick drama before I forget, About a week ago before we headed up to our daughters we stopped at the Grange to purchase a dozen little peeps..so many different names and species, so we just picked the cutest ones! After our selection we went and paid for them and they put them all in a little cardboard box with a handle..how cute is that..shopping for chicks! On the ride to our sons, he's the keeper of the little peeps, I stuck my hand into the box and held one of the little critters, so soft. Mind you I'm somewhat of a city girl, never touched a peep in my entire life. A little hesitant but picked it up anyway, wow, it didn't peek at my hand. Of course it's probably only a few days old at that time, so tiny. We got to our sons and he had a cozy bed for them with a heat lamp and water and food. We have visitations rights so we'll probably see them every couple of weeks or so. My son warning me "Don't name them mom, there not pets". and I'm thinking to myself, "We'll See"!!!!!

I feel it in my bones, this sweet girl is my future partner, she's got talent and a willingness to learn! I had my niece for a day last week sometime and we just got back into our groove of crafting together..She 10 now (um sorry Sophia, 10 1/2) and as sweet as can be. We measured her and traced some pants on paper, mind you she cut it herself..We puttered around the house then went thrift shopping, and then to the mall and lunch! Stopped off at a sweet girlie shop and picked up a few things for summer. It was so much fun, seeing all that sparkling stuff, and the cutest hot pink shoes got into our bag. Then before I knew it, mama called and time to go home...next time I'll pick her up at 6 in the morning so we can have more time..she's a early riser like me so I know the time is doable! See you out our next crafting session little sis!

Hubby's been gone since Friday afternoon to a men's retreat with the men from our church. Usually I get a little nervous when this happens..but not this time. You should of seen my bedside table the first night.... it had;

1. One huge knife (Like I'm going to use it)

2. Two phones, house phone and my cell phone

3. A flashlight (battery was dead when I tried it the next morning)

4. Gummy Bears, gotta be ready, just saying!!!

5. A stack of good books ...........

6. A bottle of sleeping aids.....

7. Two huge watch dogs, I mean cats...

Well, I was getting pretty sleepy, it was only nine o'clock, OK maybe get in bed and read....cats jumping all over me, Pretty paws wanting to sit right on my head..this is not going to work, so I then take a couple of sleeping pills and wait and wait...cats still not settling down, so I swat them..OUT!!!!

By this time I'm not caring who or what might come into the house and pass out from worry, next thing I knew it was morning, YAY we made it one night!...So I get my day going, getting ready for church, checking my ETSY store and then face book, OK, all is well in the world...Then it's time to do all that night time preparation all over again...I just threw caution to the wind and prayed to my God to take all my fears away and just enjoy the time I have alone...... I know that he takes care of me all the time and whatever comes my way, he'll make sure that I can handle it...any way hubby's coming home today, all refreshed, and I survived!!!!

This is what happened here yesterday! Lots of snow, we got out in it to go to lunch and went to a Sportsman Show at our local expo. I've never seen so much camo in one spot in my life, not only guys but gals too! It's a new world out there for me when you see women wearing camo as every day wear, I'm just sayin!!

Hubby and I went for a little outing on his day off last Monday. We went over the Cal./Oregon border through a bit of snow and sunshine, ending up in Yreka. Being my luck everything was closed so we didn't get to wander too much. Found a restaurant for lunch and wandered through wall mart, no matter where in the world your at, all wall marts are the same! After a couple hours of looking around, we went back home and back to working on our projects!! Always nice to have a short get-a-way.....

Morning!

The worry bug got me up at three this morning, gonna be a long day! I volunteered at the food bank at my church yesterday, I prepare a lunch for the folks while their waiting for their food boxes. It was a pretty uneventful day there, but there was this sweet older lady there that was just remarkable. I helped her through the bread section and held her bags while she was marveling at the different assortment of baked goods. Such joy in her and I thought to myself would I find any joy going to a food bank myself...Would I feel sorry for myself.. would I give the volunteers a bad time...Would I blame others for my troubles..Hopefully not, but there might be a good chance as I sometimes live in fear and not live in Gods good grace's and trust him in all circumstance's...Let me Lord live today that you are in charge of my life and thy will, not mine, will be done...I give him all my praises and thankful for him today...

Been a bit blue for my girl, it's only been a short while since I've seen her, but still.....I miss her. She only lives five hours away some days seems like a million, she's funny, smart, very creative and I think it scares her that we are more alike than not. I waited many years for this girl, years of infertility and such longing of my heart for a daughter...and then God said YES!!! I'm so lucky to have her in my life but like many other moms I want more time with her. She has no children of her own yet, so this longing heart for her is unknown to her, yet until her daughter comes into her life, she'll know what I mean. I hope to share that with her.....

But still.......

Good Morning!

Not too much going on at these parts, just waiting to get January over with...Went to help out on Tuesday at the church to prepare lunch while folks are waiting for their food box. The faces of needs in this country are changing, God's people are just trying to get by another day. I've meet some really nice one's and some that are at the brink of despair, breaks your heart. I then thank God that my circumstances are better, having a roof over our heads with food on the table.
Hubby with a good job and we are so grateful...

On another note, my friend is taking me out to lunch today for a delayed Birthday lunch, it will be good to get out today. I've been staying home these last few days to get caught up on some needed stuff around here. We shampooed the icky carpets, but I'm not sure if we can save them, we'll see.

Been sewing little bitty stuff for my friend, Grace, she reminded me that she needed a new dress last time I watched her! I've made her a apron, two pairs of p.j. bottoms and the dress is next. I love making stuff for her, she's sooo happy when I present her with some new pretties, I love a grateful recipient!! After all she's three and anything pink will do!!!

Baby..... It's Cold Outside...

It's been really cold here for the last week or so, one day seems like the next around these parts. I hope I'm not losing any bushes or trees, like we did one winter. I think we're zoned 6 or 7 and some plants won't make it for too long with such low temps.. well see...We got a new super duper motel size heating unit last summer and now we're insulating the floor and roof. They have been crawling around here and still not done, something like "We need a real skinny guy to reach those narrow areas", well go find one!! I don't know where to find one, you guys hire a skinny one so we can get this show over with!! As she says stomping her feet...My inside kitty got down through the closet crawl space and stayed there all day. Came home finding her sitting on the bed and looking like "Where have you been"!! One more trip out here on Friday to finish the job, hopefully the bring the "Skinny" guy with them..

Wow I didn't win, well really I didn't play! Seriously can you imagine winning that amount of money....It boggles the brain. All the decisions and responsibility on how to handle that kind of money...Money issues arise on who to give it to, on how to spend it and making sure it didn't steal your soul. But what a blessing that could be for your family and friends...just thinking...maybe next time......

Yes I had another one, just came around super fast this year. Woke up to flowers and balloons and gifts, all the kitties we're like "Whats in there?" Hubby made reservations at a Japanese restaurant for all of us and the rest of the day was just flopping around. I did get a few orders done that had to be out by yesterday, got it done...

We stuffed ourselves so much that we didn't make it to a church New Years party, I must of eaten 4 pounds of rice just to myself!! But not enough to have some cake, YUM! Hubby bought a full sheet cake for the church party, oops...... but we didn't make it there.......Got to take it there this morning, there's no way I'm having that much cake around!!! I had Kimberley here to celebrate my birthday with me, she's usually back at her home in Portland to get the new years started there, so it's was great having her here!!!!

Anyway, I didn't make any New Years resolutions, I forgot to...But I do know I need to get back on my low carb eating plan!!! How about you, any resolutions this year?!

Decorating here and there, keeping it low key this year. Got the tree up, only one this year, with being super busy at my shop, this is the quiet that I need.

My brother-in-law came home from Singapore to have Christmas with his family. I believe this is the first time back since his mothers funeral, so I would like it to be extra special for him...

I hung up a Christmas sock for him just in case he comes over on Christmas day. A few home cooked meals and maybe a few table games will fit the bill for him....

I love this month, birthdays Christmas, new years eve and lots of gatherings...I hope the following days will be easy and almost carefree for you...If it doesn't get done..so what! I love being this age, the things that would of bugged me years past doesn't any more, YAY!! I'm planning on many things this month, just being in the moment is one of them..

Sweet Ride sis!!

The gun toting princess took off yesterday, back to her home.....That still makes me feel strange when I say that as she was born into this home and her brothers were 1 and 3 when we moved here. I have this ever present pending feeling of maybe she'll move back here, to her birth place.....we'll see...she doesn't read this blog so I can get away with out loud wishing......I'm just saying.....Her Dad feels the same way, right hon?.
