New Stuff

Check out my shop http://anniesattic.etsy.com/ I have a couple new items plus this fab bag!!!!!

Kimberley

Our daughter went home to Portland, never enough time!! We already miss her and talk allot about moving closer to be with her and her beau. Yes these are questions we're trying to answer, like where do we really belong. DH still has a few years before retiring so we still have a bit of time to figure it all out! Our only daughter will probably get married and have a couple of kids and we don't want to miss a minute of that!!!

She brings us such joy!!

Family Fun!!

Sophia and Davids new pup!!!

Watch your fingers!!!

Sierra and her dad!!

Kimberley and puppy!!

Lots of presents, we must of been good this year!!

And the stockings where hung.

Here's some pics of the big day which was surprisingly calm!! Dinner for nine came together real easily and everyone seemed happy and pleased.

Happy Holidays!!

Not as much decorating around here like I usually do but still pretty! We had a birthday party here in the beginning of the month so I had to get the tree up quick and some other stuff out to decorate out of the "Christmas Closer", YIKES!!! The closet is full and I didn't want to enter that zone so this year I went out and bought some new tree decorations. Mind you I have been collecting wonderful Christmas pretties for years and still I couldn't make myself do it this year. But like I said it's still pretty!!

Christmas in my shop!!

Well not really my shop, just a small booth. But it's full and fun this time of the year. I've sold a few of the aprons in the pic's but have added others since I've been there. It get really messy if I don't go and straighten up every few days. I wish I did that here at home!! It just one mess after another around here!! Bless my sweet husband, he hardly ever says anything but stares at the fabric piles once in awhile, he also folds it back up once I find what I'm looking for.
He encourages me often and he knows when I'm a bit blue a little fabric will get me in a better space! Right hon!!

The Apronista-------

Thanks Deanna!! For featuring my etsy shop (http://anniesattic.etsy.com/) and Christmas this apron and a big thank you for buying this beauty!!!

Apron of the Week....

"Can't think of a better Christmas gift for the favorite women in your life than an adorable apron. While some still see Aprons as a symbol of domestic drudgery, today's aprons are made from fabulous fabrics and are as well designed as any garment. I wear my aprons all the time - not just for cooking or cleaning - but for holding my phone, ipod, hair tie, gum, and even keys and wallet as I make a quick trip to the store. Today's Aprons are as much an accessory as any goodie from Manolo Blahnik, Gucci, or Tiffany - and they are much cheaper!

This weeks Apron is from Etsy, one of my favorite addictions (seriously - I can spend HOURS in there!). Happy Holidays Apron has one of THE cutest fabrics, "Annie's Attic" has done a great job coordinating fabrics, and of course I ALWAYS love polka dots. Seriously, you should get this one now before I do. "
Check Deanna's blog at http://apronista.blogspot.com/ she has the most awesomeness blog, one of my favorites!!!

Birthday Trio

What'cha get??

Serious Bingo player!!!

We have three birthdays in December in these parts of the country. So I thought while the month is young and a few extra hours that hasn't been spoken for, we would have a joint party. Marilyn and the kids had the sniffles but came anyway, it wouldn't be the same without them. We had pizza and bingo, love that combo. Had the town cryer call the numbers, that would be Sophia!! She loves that job!! Everyone came away with a Bingo gift, a few won two. Fun times, that's what we're building. Memories without my mother-in-law, she loved a good bingo game. Next month it will be a year that she's been gone...doesn't seem real sometimes.

Anyway I forgot to ask if anyone wanted their cupcake and ice creme, yikes, whats a birthday party without cake and ice creme? Presents times three, and lots of fun, maybe we'll do again next year if every ones willing.

Portland

Rufus in his new apartment!!! He's realty saying "I wish I was at my grammes house".

That's the cutest bunny I have ever seen!!

We got back from Portland Friday night. The trip was fun, great seeing our daughter and her new place with Chazz. We bought all the new fun things that a new apartment owner would need. We went to IKEA, a giant store, but we managed to get through the whole place. Kimberley and Chazz picked more of a Modern Danish look with reds, blacks and whites for their colors. Her dad was busy putting items together and I was giving my ideas on where to put things, I need to stop that!!! They have great ideas on their own without my input.

Portland

Bye--Bye Kitty, we'll be home soon!

Morning...

We're in Portland right now, bringing stuff to our daughter for her new move!! We got in around 9 last night, passed out in a motel. DH snoring away and me up since 5, bummer. Happily I brought the lap top to check my shop and read my favorite bloggers.

We loaded up hubby's pickup with stuff that she may need and stuff that's just pretty. I heard the space is small, so we'll see.

We're taking them to Ikea for these extras and going to a fab fabric store called "BOLT", great place.

The super size thrift shop opens at 8 this morning so we'll see if we can get there at opening time!!

Babys New Coat!!

I used a Butterick pattern 5092 and made the x-large size, I hope it won't be too big. I've added the flower to the hat and patch pockets to the jacket. DH covered the buttons in a red wool. He's so handy in that way! I also added some narrow elastic in the hat for a better fit. We picked up the wool hounds tooth in Pendelton, Oregon on a trip last summer. Very nice wool, warm too!

Some one's turning one and I made her a new coat and hat for her birthday!! It's been along time since I've made anything this small, so I wasn't sure if it would come out OK, but it did!

She will look very cool in her new coat and hat!

Pictures coming soon!!

Happy Birthday baby V.!!!

Black Friday!

Yep, we did it! We went shopping with all the other nuts out there! It was fun but we were both exhausted. We got to wallmart about 5:30 a.m. thinking we'd be pretty close to beating the bigger crowd, WRONG! They we're open since midnight and the place was the worst I've ever seen it. People were in long lines already done with their shopping. We got a few nice things for our family but mostly picked up a few toys for our toy drive at church.
We got all our ads layed out, plotting where to go first and so on. Throw the list to the wayside and just shopped what we thought the family would like. Can't say much more if ya know what I'm talking about!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Best Turkey Carver Ever!!

We had a fun and calm day today, our son David came for dinner and brought a movie and played video games with his dad. No stress here today! I got up about 6 and got the 20lb. turkey in the oven and then started with the side dishes. So around noon the table set and food on the table and it was a go!! Everything came out good and none of us stuffed ourselves. First time ever!!

David got to take left overs home and we got enough food for the next few days!!

So for tomorrow, let the shopping begin!! List in hand and off we go at 4:30 in the morning, YEAH!!!!

A Little Shabby but Chic Ornaments!!

Here's a cleaver way to make new Christmas ornaments out of those bright ugly one's that you can get by the bag full at the thrift shops this time of the year!

Thanks to my friend Dena who already tried this and passed it on to me. You take a big bowl of hot water and about one cup of bleach and a cup of salt and mix it up real good. Then you take the bright glass bulbs and dunk them into the bowl to soak a bit, make sure the bleach solution fill the inside of the bulb. Swish them a bit around and pretty soon the paint on the inside will come off, if not, let them soak longer. The salt in the solution will clean the insides out and if theirs a bit of paint left you can get a cotton swab to get at them better. Tah Dah, you have clear glass bulbs for the next part and the fun part of decorating them!!!

When you get your bulbs try to get the ones with a larger opening. That way you can put stuff in them with more ease. Then you gather bit's of tiny white buttons, lace, ribbon, tiny flowers and let your creating juices take off!! Take some pretty ribbon and make a nice hanger for them, usually a 12 inch piece makes a generous hanger.

Click on the picture and you can see the pattern better and how cute they look when there done!!!

I have my bulbs clean and ready to go, just waiting for Sophia to come over to help me make them!!

Sewing Time!

Yikes, where have I been! Lots of stuff going on but can't remember them all!!

I went and picked up Sophia up on Monday and we had a great day together. We had to wait around for the phone guy so we we're held hostage here at home until he came. So we crafted, like we do when my sweets comes over. We decided on a Christmas scarf and pick through the scraps of projects that have come and gone. She did a great job of picking and arranging her pieces, I tell you that girl has style and a sense of design. Yep, she's good!! I wish for more time with her every time it's time for her to go, but Christmas break is coming so I bet we'll be making a few gifts for her family.

Had a great time little girl, come back soon!!!

New Season--New Look!

I need to clean out those bookcases! YIKES!!!
I have a sewing room, why are my machines in the living room!!!
Great Grandmother Grace Kemp's chair, right hon?
Not too messy yet!!

Need to recover the chairs----
Took two leaves out of the table, looked like the "Last Super's Table" !!

Yikes, where's all my red stuff!!! We changed the whole look of our living room, from everything red and roses to a more tradition look. Walls have been painted a pretty taupe, and some walls left a creamy white. One of my favorite things to do is redecorate, so this redo is up my ally. I have had this area red as long as I can remember. Gone is the down cushy sofa and matching chair and ottoman, gone is the Waverley drapes, gone is the million and one dust collectors of nick knacks. Hello more simplified look!!
We bought two matching wool rugs, all done in the browns, beige's and a little bit of green and burgundy (do they use that word still?) As soon as DH gets up we're recovering the dining rooms chairs to go with the whole look. The red plaid doesn't go with the room any more. We're also caved in to two matching leather recliners, yep, we did!! A real dark brown leather to match the sofas. So far so good, the only thing left to do is hook up hubby's blu-ray whatchama call it. We've inherited a heirloom chair from my sister-in-law that looks so pretty in the room, allot of items that we inherited will go really well into this room. Little bit by bit I'm unpacking the boxes of treasures that was bestowed upon us at the finale cleaning out of the family home. I just need not to overfill it, that's the hard part!! Now off to wake DH!!!

New!!

I got a couple of new things this week, a vacuum and a apron, I know, I could of made the apron myself!! But I just love my initial on the pocket and it's so Polk-a-doted!! Love them dots! As far as getting a new vacuum, not so exciting. I'll wear my new apron while vacuuming, maybe that will help!

Halloween Fun!

We had a great Halloween with my niece and nephew and their mom. We get together every year at our house as the kids live in the country and we live in a subdivision which means more CANDY!!!
Austin was "Men in Black, so handsome and my Sophia was a vampire, so scary!! Their getting bigger, I'm hoping they will want to do this for a few more years. I had big plans of making a hardy home made soup and yummy sandwiches but fizzled out at the last minute so we ending up with pizza. DH took the kids up one side of the street then back down towards our house and then they were done!! YEA, really!! They usually go allot further but I suppose they had a bag full of candy and Austin's feet hurt. The price of beauty!!!
With the time change it felt like it was 10 o'clock but really was only 8, we we're all bushed. The kids we're excited that some folks gave out full size candy bars. We also got to see friends, with their little ones, all of them are super adorable. One little girl was a fancy butterfly, her mom outdid herself with her costume!
Here's a few pic's of my cuties pies!!

New Aprons!!

Here's some new aprons in my shop http://anniesattic.etsy.com/

Thriftshop Thursdays!

Here's a few finds that's semi worthy of blogging. A few sewing notions, vintage zippers in fall colors. I have so many of these I'd better make a day of sewing make up bags. It's been a while since I had a few in my shop. Also bought a few books, getting low on reading materials. The only new books I buy are the crafty ones. I can't justify paying some top prices that they want for new ones. Besides I read so fast that the bill for decent reading books would be big each month. I also found a down and feather pillow form, I've been looking for this size.

Anyway happy thrift shopping this weekend, may your finds be the best ones ever!!
